We ship our products to home theater enthusiasts worldwide, but our roots are in the film and post-production industry.

One tool that's essential in film and TV production is gaffer tape. While not commonly found in most households, it’s an incredibly versatile material and a cleanly removable alternative to duct tape—it adheres to almost any surface and can be removed cleanly without leaving a sticky residue.* However, be cautious when using it on painted walls; it’s not designed like Command Strips and may remove loose or poorly adhered paint. Gaffer tape is ideal for attaching bias lights to your display and managing cables.

*Over time, gaffer tape may leave a faint, dry residue along the edges. This can be easily removed by dabbing the area with another piece of tape.

How to Use It:
Instead of peeling the red adhesive backing off your MediaLight or LX1 bias lights, use 2-inch strips of mini-gaffer tape every 6 inches (about every 3–4 LEDs). Shorter strips (e.g., 1 inch) aren’t sufficient, and for particularly resistant surfaces, additional strips may be necessary.

If you’re detail-oriented like us, you’ve probably wondered about the ease of removing your bias lights in the future. Will there be residue? Will removal be difficult? With a roll of mini-gaffer tape, you can eliminate these concerns entirely.

Please note that all MediaLight Mk2 v2 versions include a 3m roll of nano tape in the package, which can be used for residue-free installation. If you are buying an Mk2 v2 product, you probably don’t want this.
